DesiCal ("we", "our", or "the app") is a calorie tracking app designed for South Asian cuisine. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

We collect the following information to provide our services:

• Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email if you choose to hide your email).
• Health profile: Age, weight, height, gender, and activity level that you provide during onboarding to calculate your daily calorie goals.
• Food photos: Photos you take using the in-app camera to identify and analyze food items.
• Scan history: Records of food items you have scanned, including estimated nutritional information.
• Subscription status: Information about your subscription plan managed through Apple and RevenueCat.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Calorie tracking: Your health profile is used to calculate personalized daily calorie goals.
• Food analysis: Photos are sent to our AI service (powered by Anthropic Claude) to identify food items and estimate nutritional content. Photos are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
• Account management: Your email and account details are used to manage your account and sync data across devices.
• Subscription management: To verify and manage your subscription status.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Cloud database for storing your account data, health profile, and scan history.
• Anthropic Claude: AI service used to analyze food photos and estimate nutritional content.
• RevenueCat: Subscription management and payment processing (payments are handled by Apple).
• Apple Sign-In: Authentication service for secure account creation and login.

4. Camera Usage

DesiCal uses your device camera solely to photograph food items for nutritional analysis. Photos are sent to our AI service for processing and are not permanently stored on our servers. The camera is never accessed in the background.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon account deletion, all your personal data, health profile, and scan history will be permanently removed from our systems.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared with the third-party services listed above, strictly for the purpose of providing the app's functionality.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission and secure cloud storage. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

DesiCal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date.
